Mama, vote for Barack!
I live in the city of Knoxville, TN. The city in the South that voted for a the first women... Latina woman... to be mayor of our city. She's a Democrat.
However, we go trick or treating in my in-laws neighborhood - one of those really nice, pseudo-riche neighborhoods where the houses look brick, but are facade, and the lawns are manicured and everyone seems oh-so-nice.
I prepared my son. My husband works late and we had to meet at his parents house so we left the city of Knoxville and moved to the county of Knox and saw Romney after Romney after Romney sign. I hadn't seen them either. It was weird. In the city, to see a Romney sign is to laugh.
My 5-year-old daughter in the back seat was only looking forward to Nona, Papa and candy.
My son kept seeing those signs and he got more and more agitated.
Finally, on our trick or treat journey, he had been spinning his bag, back and forth and back and forth, and then he saw ANOTHER Romney sign (he calls them the Aim Toothpaste signs) and then he spun it toward the sign.
Well, the handles on the bag broke, hit the sign, the sign went down, my husband and I laughed, he picked up his candies, left the sign down and I announced that my kids loved Obama.
It got quiet and then...others.... those without signs looked at us and said, "He's going to win." and my son said, "Thank, God."
He still got candy, but he wasn't into it.
He asked, "When you get rich, do you get stupid?"
My hubby said, "Yeah, sometimes."
My son wasn't happy with that.
