It looks like the main goal of the coup plotters was too imprison themselves.

We are witnessing an unprecedented level of stupidity and a type of madness that is hard to fathom.

I have an idea. Lets forge some documents, sign them. Then we will send them to the national archives where they will most certainly be discovered. Then they will send us to prison. Sound good, lets do it. Signed, fake elector.

I find great comfort that I and many others are on the right side of history. That's how we will be remembered. That's how history will remember us for all time

Trump, his merry band of traitors and all the Trump voters are on the wrong side of history. That's how they will be remembered for all time and there is not a dam thing they can do about it. Their lies will not be able to hide that fact.

There are still people who lie about the civil war and it doesn't matter. The south was on the wrong side of history and everybody knows it. History will record the same about Trump and his voters for all time.

1. Call me a skeptuc but I think that they do not fear being imprisoned.

They think they can fo whatever they want and get away with it and they are probably right.

What will they give them? 2 months and a $5000 fine?

I'm not a big fan of the way fines are imposed, at all levels. I think fines should be based on income so that punishment is uniform and understood.

the more it is apparent that the coup plot was well thought out, well coordinated, with numerous options for success.

The coup may have succeeded had a couple of Trump appointed federal judges ruled differently, may have succeeded had election officials gone along with Trump, had succeeded had election workers gone along with Trump, had succeeded had Mike Pence gone along with Trump.

As Adam Schiff stated, our institutions held, "barely." As Jamie Raskin stated, we have not put down the coup attempt yet.

When a team is moving down the field it doesn't spike the ball at the 50 yard line.

Documenting their coup was a good idea. He really thought he could outsmart the entire system.
If he weren’t stark raving mad he and his enablers would already have jumped.
