David Nicholson, director of NC apple festival asks: "Just when is the 'Old Fat White Man Day'?"

The executive director of a local festival is facing backlash after he made a Facebook post about Juneteenth.

“There’s really no excuse at this point in 2022 not to know.” Crystal Cauley, local activist of the Black History Collective of Henderson County said.

The since-deleted post read:

“The Post Office is closed today for some made-up holiday that I never heard of? Just when is the 'Old Fat White Man Day'? (sic) I really want to celebrate this day.”


That status was posted Monday by David Nicholson, the executive director of the North Carolina Apple Festival.
