Smoking pot makes you nicer and less greedy
https://futurism.com/neoscope/smoking-weed-nicer-less-greedy?utm_source=GetTheElevatordotcom&fbclid=IwAR0V74xFRsqQpQmIOn9JnXHNGkkKQDxHz7ON7Twpy_RQieeJrDBMtBrCcPc
Good news, stoners! Science is finally backing up what you've long known: that smoking weed does, in fact, make you nicer — and less greedy, to boot. In a recent study published in the journal Scientific Reports, University of New Mexico researchers found evidence that cannabis use makes people more empathetic, as well as less motivated by money. Though the study focused on the "prosociality" of cannabis use — that is, as the Scientific Reports paper defines it, "the intentional act of advancing the well-being of other people" — lead author Jacob Vigil said that he's interested in reframing how other researchers approach studying weed as well. "They see cannabis users as unmotivated, or they see them as addicted, or perhaps believe that they are losing sight of their goals," he told Albuquerque-based nonprofit news site The Paper. "It’s never really been approached objectively to see what’s going on before making negative interpretations." more

1. Good, although correlation does not necessarily mean causation.
In other words, smoking weed does not necessarily make you more empathetic. It may mean that those who are already empathetic are more likely to smoke weed.

48. but it might reduce sex on the wrong brain, which causes greed, lack of empathy,
maybe cannabis effects those neural connections that detour reproductive impulses to the left brain
weed's been around a long time and sowb has been around for millions of years, as long as our ancestors were masturbating with the right hand ---and it may be that weed was cultivated as a treatment for sex on the wrong brain. that's why the sowb authoritarians don't like anyone smoking it. a major motivation for authoritarians is avoidance/fear of uncertainty. does weed reduce fear of uncertainty in most smokers? that could be easily measurable greed is what happens when you mix reproductive impulses with generally left brain parts of the brain that quantify, compare, do the numbers |

the wild bunch for sure. Big old house, 5 bedrooms, beautiful open stair case with two living rooms and another rook we called the TV room. We had lots of wild parties, but I remember the next morning after one of those parties I walked into the TV room and this young gal was asleep on the floor with art brushes and paint next to her. On the blank wall she painted the fabulous freak brothers smoking a water pipe. It was so nicely done we just left it alone.

mine who taught middle school in Vermont reported that the boys there thought a good time was getting stoned and fighting out in the parking lot. I've heard other similar anecdotes since then that suggest the effects of pot vary depending on who is smoking it and what their idea of a good time is. It's not so simple.

63. Story time.
I have many stories like this.
My wife never smoked. I do occasionally. Now, only very occasionally, because it gives me uncontrollable munchies. I was at a concert with my wife several years ago. She drove there, while I got high on the way. You had to walk up a ramp and stand on this big elevated concrete platform where the entrance doors were. I'd say there were maybe 1,000 people there that arrived early, standing around, waiting for the doors to open. We were standing next to these two young guys, maybe late 20's, early 30's. One of the guys was standing behind me, and his friend was to the side of me. I hear the guy behind me teeth start to chatter, and he's making that teeth chattering/shivering noise. You know, like...zazazazazaza....sucking air in.....zazazazaza. Teeth banging together. I turned around and said "What the fuck man, it's not THAT cold"! (It was late March). He said "I can't help it man! I'm fucking freezing"! He had no coat on. I had a really nice leather coat on. I took off my coat and helped him put it on. He thanked me, and then I turned and looked at his friend, who was just as baked as I was. We locked eyes, and we made some kind of connection. We both smiled. Then we started giggling. I hear my wife whisper "Oh, no, Jesus Christ", because she knows how I get. So this guy and I are staring at each other, laughing. Then we started laughing harder. Then we started ugly laughing, screaming laughing. We were laughing so hard that we were holding onto each other, and we fell to our knees, clutching each other. By this time, the people in our immediate vicinity started laughing, and then REALLY laughing. This laughter spread throughout the crowd, and about a minute later, about 1,000 people waiting to get in were laughing their asses off. Many were laughing so hard that they were crying. Things calmed down a bit when they started letting people through the doors. When we got inside, the guy I gave the coat to said "Hey, here's your coat back, thanks a lot"! I said "Keep it! You need it more than I do"! So in that particular case, being stoned made me nicer and less greedy. |
