Jan. 6 hearing to provide opening argument, focus on far-right groupssnip...............
[Thursday] night is connecting the dots, said a second aide. A lot of this has been reported and bits and pieces of it have been shared. But our aim is to tie all that together in a comprehensive narrative and to show how its a pattern that started before the election and went all the way through January 6.
I keep hearing people say, "Oh, we already know what happened." Yeah, we do. But we've been getting it in bits and pieces. There is something to be said for a comprehensive, coherent narrative that ties all of it together. The brain tends to see the totality a whole lot better than when seeing only bits and pieces. Plus, the committee needs to remind people. It was more than a year ago and people's memories tend to fade. We need to SEE how it started before the election in 2020 and all of the steps along the way to get to where we are today.

(96,882 posts)...rather than the planning that went into it. Witnesses will include a Capitol Police officer who was attacked and a video journalist who recorded a lot of the riot activity.

(11,456 posts)Show the horror of the attack, then show from bottom to the top, in that sequence, ending in two weeks with indisputable evidence, video, audios and direct whitenesss that were sent to do trumps work. Ordered by him. Did trump order the Code Red? Youre damn straight he did. And we CAN handle the truth. (believe that Nicholson!!) Like a murder mystery movie. The villain is revealed at the end, with a long build up to him and exactly how bad it was and how close we came to being over. That way a build up of disgust and even more hate for his lying fat ass. How long would you sit through a movie if the murderer was highlighted in the beginning?

(40,949 posts)You never know how far that few's views can ripple.
Then again, to change their minds would require that they have minds. So you're right, very few.

(13,538 posts)Senators trying their best to get that soundbite for their "base' & blathering on and on before ever asking the first question.
I hope this is more like a documentary.

(16,545 posts)are unanimous in seeking the truth and presenting the facts coherently, so I'm hopeful.
If anyone gets a little windy, I'll trust that it'll be by way of thoroughness.

(77,234 posts)I expect an impressive hearing, based upon the Committee providing a timeline laying out the foundation for the upcoming hearings.

(4,913 posts)Their problem is they get their information from FOX which hides information from them. They think the attack was just people losing control. They haven't made the connection the attack was planned, coordinated by Trump and his inner circle.
The hardcore Trump voters will never change their minds and I don't care. There are a lot of Trump voters who I believe will watch the hearings and see facts for the very first time that will get their attention.
Remember, there were thousands of Trump voters who did not enter the capital. They attacked no one. They knew what they were watching was illegal and wrong. Not all Trump voters are completely nuts.

(1,766 posts)I sure hope the Jan6 commission recognizes that and makes many MANY clips that will be more widely circulated and viewed than what's going to be on during these televised hearings.
Viral is the message to them.

(37,733 posts)I'm sure that MSNBC will have way more commentary and background coverage of the hearings, but NBC will keep it within the 2 hour limit (including commercial breaks.)
I believe the plan is that on different nights, the hearings are to be aired by different networks on a rolling schedule.

(40,627 posts)that's what we usually do here to keep the various comments all together.
If no one has done it yet, do we have any volunteers?
