How allegations of GOP 'reconnaissance' tours are rocketing back during the run-up to the Jan. 6 hearingssnip...............
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) confirmed Sherrill's report, saying he saw a member of Congress providing a reconnaissance tour the night before the attack.
But Reps. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), Madison Cawthorn (R-NC), and Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) all denied giving reconnaissance tours.
But questions remain, including about a late-night tour of the Capitol by then Representative-elect Boebert on Dec. 12, 2020 late on the night of the first Stop the Steal rally.
Tristen Snell, who prosecuted Trump University for the NY attorney general's office, thinks there had to be inside information from the Republican side of the aisle.
"There are 658 panes of glass in the ground floors of the Capitol. Only a dozen were not reinforced prior to January 6. The insurrectionists knew EXACTLY where those weak points were," he said. "Because they were given advance help by pro-Trump members of Congress and their staffs.

Something nags at my mind about the night of the insurrection where there were video shots of a woman standing behind a row of windows, pointing directions to some of the guys on the other side of the windows. It seemed like she knew exactly where to lead the guys and they weren't hesitant about taking instructions. I remember one of the commentators saying that she looked like she was following a drawing or layout. The video stayed on her for a bit, then the videos moved to something else and I forgot all about it.
Am I whacko?

(6,115 posts)... the J6 committee is going to present video from people embedded with the insurrectionists from before, during, and after the attempted coup. I have a feeling that shit's going to be pretty revealing. What I am hoping is them showing maps and layouts of the Capitol, which would show someone provided them this information.

(16,254 posts)arms and she seemed to be walking on counters/cupboards or a table that put her a little too high and she had to bend a bit. The guys ran over and talked to her and that's all before the camera moved on to something else.
Funny how your mind stores images that remain with you so long...unless you're a Republican. They can't recall anything.

(12,359 posts)I don't think I've seen the video that you are speaking of. Can you give a bit more context? Was this during the insurrection inside the Capitol?

(6,777 posts)Maybe a megaphone? I think she was arrested. Not sure i have heard what came of it...

(16,254 posts)Something about windows that were like awning-window size. The cameras picked her up several times.
Maybe she will show up in the coverage.

(12,794 posts)They show the location of entrances, where security is, and where the House and Senate chambers are. What they dont show are the private offices and tunnels everyone uses to move around the building put of public sight. If the insurrectionists are shown to have those maps, someone inside provides them.

(1,216 posts)Just put bullhorn lady in the search, and youll see a bunch of stuff. She was caught. Her name is Rachel Powell, and is the mother of 8 kids who she home schools.

(1,216 posts)She was giving orders and advice on where to go, and what to do. I also remember people thinking she was Boeberts mom. While there was a resemblance, it didnt pan out (obviously). Let me go look for the footage.

(16,254 posts)I was that familiar with Boebert, but I remember the comparison/hat.

(26,158 posts)This is the closest thing I can find. I thought I remembered her being inside as well, but the footage I found is of pink hat lady (Rachel Powell) poking her head through the window to give detailed instructions. It's part of news report and only shows a few seconds before talking over it. I can't find the raw vid which is longer and more detailed - anyone else have better link to this? Annoying that I've changed laptops since then and didn't bring my bookmarks over. Still have the laptop and will look at some point.
Skip to 00:32 to hear her speak. Does this sound familiar?

(16,254 posts)I don't know how that stood out with all the confusion and crowds of the day, but she sure caught my attention long enough to file her away in my brain cells.
Thanks!

(72,071 posts)There was quite a big of talk about this woman at the time.
UpInArms
(53,070 posts)But federal prosecutors say Rachel Powell smashed her way into the Capitol, directed other rioters on where to go, stood by doing nothing while a fellow rioter beat up a cop and talked in support of civil war and "bloodshed."
They say she's dangerous and should remain under court supervision until her case is resolved.
Powell, a Mercer County mother of eight, is charged with numerous felonies in connection with using a heavy pipe to smash a window, climb inside the Capitol and use a bullhorn to direct other pro-Trump rioters about how best to penetrate the building.
She's seen in videos wearing a distinctive pink hat and carrying a bullhorn, hence the media's designation of her as either the "pink hat lady" or "bullhorn lady."

Same with all branches of the military. They are naturally targets for infiltration and probably have more capabilities of staying hidden for longer periods of time. Sort of like herpes or long COVID.

(19,666 posts)as a Congresswoman yet. She had no official business being in the Capitol after hours. Who was the Capitol Police Officer who led that tour?
FakeNoose
(37,731 posts)Even though Boebert had just been sworn in as a newbie House member, she took them around and showed them the Capitol building. I think they were particularly interested in the entrances that were off the beaten path.
I really hope Boebert's phone has been scanned for calls in and out on Jan. 6th, 2021. She's definitely part of this.
SergeStorms
(19,666 posts)that they were accompanied by Capitol Police Officer.
Boebert wouldn't have known squat about the Capitol at that time. The blind would have been leading the blind.
I'd like to know who that Officer was, but I'm sure the Committee knows. I hope they disclose that information.
