Nothing says ban assault rifles like cops being scared of the shooter who has one.

What is up with the camo? How utterly absurd this all is. Totally out of control gun/cop/war culture here.

Not sure if "urban" accurately describes Uvalde.

26. That photo really punctuates the necessity of the Defund The Police campaign
Police officers by definition are peace keepers who patrol communities and de-escalate. That's their sole job.
These are military thugs who think and operate as a hammer and see every problem as a nail. It is a very dangerous precedent. It normalizes citizens being oppressed by the state, watched over by heavily armed militias given a broad use of force. Before you know it we have "Guardians" at checkpoints everywhere. |

12. Maybe we should be asking all law enforcement agencies
to petition Congress to ban all future manufacturing & sales of assault type weapons.
If there was a clear major majority of them in favor, be hard for Rs to vote against it. ![]() |

Police forces usually support gun regulations. Gun regulations and bans should be the focus.

19. Assault rifles.
What part of the word "assault" do they not understand? Not "defense rifle," not "hunting rifle," not "biathlon rifle," not "target rifle," not anything else. "Assault." The design is to ASSAULT HUMAN BEINGS.

21. But no.
"Assault Rifle" is used to distinguish the shorter-distancing, low-powered, automatic carbines from the "battle rifles" (bigger, more powerful, longer distances). (for example, m-16 family vs m-14)
The term "assault weapon" is used because it confuses the general public into thinking "assault rifle", which are not the same things regardless of any artificial definition of "assault weapon" being used. |

25. To be fair
Cops are afraid of (nonwhite) people with toy guns. Cell phones. Candy Bars. Hoodies. Cigarettes. Or even just sitting in their own apartments after work.
Scaring cops is not exactly difficult |

31. It's gonna get worse, too.
The US Army has contracted for a new rifle (from Sig-Sauer, a sign of the times). It is specifically designed to have longer range than the Armalites, and to have a round capable of defeating present body armor. And yes, children, Sig-Sauer has already begun producing it for the civilian market.
All that body armor the police have invested in just became obsolete. -- Mal |

The latter is probably better anyway considering human nature and our current predicament.
