The story doesn't say.
One person got to the clinic in time and avoided the fate of the other three who died. Otherwise the hotel wouldn't have known about the CO poisoning at all. Sounds like the hotel will be liable. Very sad.

Officials say the two men and one woman died sometime between 11pm on May 5 when they, along with the lone survivor, visited the clinic seeking medical attention for nausea and vomiting, and around 8.30am to 9am the next morning, when they were found dead in two separate villas.
The couple that died were successful travel agents. I'm guessing that others in their industry aren't recommending the resort too enthusiastically right now.
