Get this: news on the mystical journey of the Romney donation bus

Last edited Tue Oct 30, 2012, 08:03 PM - Edit history (1)

First he said it was going to Virginia. Then he said it was going to New Jersey. It ISN'T going to the Red Cross. GET THIS: now they are saying that someone (presumably from his staff) is going to drive it to the disaster area and HAND THE SHIT OUT! So we're going to do what? All run out in the street to get our canned food as if the Good Humor man has come to the block?

Ugh. I hate him for using the misfortunes of my neighbors like this.

UPDATE A FEW HOURS LATER: Now the news reports are saying that the Red Cross has agreed to receive this bus full of stuff that they asked not to have to deal with.

But that report comes from the campaign. I still think someone ought to follow this thing and see where it ends up.

...because everything he does is a lie--and this stupid bus tour is built on a pile of myths and misunderstandings about what a disaster is really about.

Dear Mitt--We realize that the only "disaster' that you've experienced--is that one time that you ran out of Beluga caviar in the middle of a dinner party--but inexperience is no excuse for the colossal mistakes you're about to make.

Don't do it Myth Romney. Stay where you are.

Romney campaign unraveling as Romney's weirdo pork-n-beans bus makes Crazy Journey.

It's utterly satisfying that Romney is falling apart on precisely the kind of shit that makes him unsuited for public office: his utter inability to produce anything of value for anyone.

This is so out of touch I can hardly stand it. First, it isn't like there are no stores in affected areas. The problem is getting around where the whole place is covered in debris and sand and whatever the water has thrown around.

Canned goods? Seriously? A bus? A bus is good for evacuation, not carrying a bunch of unneeded shit and getting in the way with your photo op.

What a maroon.

Red Cross shows up, starts getting people into shelters and getting thier lives and papers back in order.

FEMA shows up with box lunches for first responders and food/ice/water for the shelter areas.

These folks are gonna need a bunch of other things, doctors, medications, guarding of their homes. I don't know how that is coordinated but I think the National Guard is going to help a bit.

I am so glad I didn't have to go through this one, and I'll wait until the logistics begin to make sense prior to

just sending a check to the Red Cross.

Which should be only used in case of emergency or by residents needing to get in our out of the disaster area?

This is an excellent example of why we need FEMA. They know how to navigate a disaster, they know who to coordinate with to get things done. Private citizens, no matter how well intending they may be (and I understand Romney isn't well intending), do not understand the logistics of a dealing with a disaster situation.

He's a clueless jackass when it comes to anything other than making millions sending our jobs overseas. Period.

Now more than ever, it's time we talked about getting rid of the capital gains tax altogether so that the job creators can, like, create jobs and stuff. The bus is just the smiling face of this noble effort, the PR side of things, but the real, behind-the-scenes effort necessarily involves giving more money to wealthy people. Have some potted meat.

I can't believe the campaign is that dumb. Get in the way of the people who are actually doing the things that need to be done; like cutting down trees, fixing power lines, draining flood water...
