This was a topic of interest last night. Found an article that might answer some questions:

1. NSA can track unless the battery is able to be removed (and in many cell phones, they can't)

2. Someone needs to make

A Faraday phone case of woven copper. Nothing gets in, nothing gets out.

3. A faraday cage on a phone you are carrying so you can use it?

Help me out here, I'm not seeing your point here

4. I just discovered actually do make purses or bags that are Faraday cages.

When in the case, all signals are blocked, when you want to use your phone - take it out and use it. Obviously this is worse case scenario option but if you don’t want your phone tracked this would work without taking the battery out of the phone.
