(2,434 posts)They need to get over themselves, the loans should not even be necessary to start with.

(6,017 posts)What about using taxpayer funds to make all public schools tuition-free, just like K-12?

(40,023 posts)the point is Ingraham's complete and total selfishness in failing to take care of her loans, which she could well have done with those types of jobs.
I think it is about both actually, she is normal representative of repug mentality...But the loans are a travesty.. The USA at one point had one of the best educational systems in the world and it was affordable. This is no longer the case we are probably pretty low on the list now.And that is what it is all about...The dumbing down of the populace.

My other three are in school.
When they get out, they'll be doing the same.
While it shows up on my credit report, she assumes the payments, and I'm always there if she needs me.
I had to co-sign for her undergraduate loans, but she is solely responsible for her graduate loans. And
she is placing an accelerated payoff on my co-signed loans to free my credit.

(27,832 posts)I learned over 50 years ago NEVER co-sign on a loan. I saw several instances of friends who'd cosigned, then the original borrower disappeared, and surprise, surprise, they were now fully responsible for the loan. It was a hard lesson, easily learned. Easily because I was not a co-signer, but I saw the incredibly negative outcomes of co-signing.
I would not co-sign for a child or parent. I'd take out a mortgage with a spouse, but not a partner, not if we're not legally married.
Another huge, undiscussed problem of student loans is that young people will major in totally impractical things, with zero regard to the ultimate job prospects. The placement offices in colleges are always frustrated, because students never come to them, never look into what they might actually do with that degree.

(82,849 posts)Everyone should have to do that, even people who don't have a mother or whose mother can't work until she drops dead from exhaustion.
Remember when part of the American Dream was hoping your children had an easier life than you did? Now, we have to be in service to the overrich until we kick the bucket.
