I've noticed this misspelling a couple of times this morning. Donbas is a word made up from two words, "Donets" and "Basin." There's a Donets River in that area. The two words are essentially the same in Russian and Ukrainian as they are in English.
It's an easy mistake to make, but if you know where the name came from, it's easier to remember. Besides, the incorrect spelling sounds like "dumbass", which isn't a good mistake, really.

Thing and not spelling Zelinskyy without the two y's has irked me for awhile.

Spelling matters. Truly, it does.
