(573 posts)even with the presidential vote. I think the incumbent should have been listed first.

(154,021 posts)in some the executive party determines who is on top.. (Imagine a Green governor)
In others the secretary of state has that power.
This is the joy of not having one election but 51 state elections.

(3,030 posts)I don't know if it was that way statewide, but I found this:
" in races where there was one candidate for each political party, the Republican party candidate will be listed first, because the G.O.P. (and nominee John McCain) carried West Virginia in the 2008 presidential election."

(17,291 posts)Then under a secret codicil to the XXV Amendment Mitt Romney and family would get a reality show. After the Karashians I'm not sure how much more we can take.

(10,128 posts)Stein, Hoefling, Romney and lastly Johnson. California likes to mix things up, either by Congressional or Assembly district, I forget which, so no candidate is first or last throughout the state. It was fun during the primaries trying to find a particular candidate in a list of 25+ names in random order.

(33 posts)Our state lists Republican candidates in the first column, Libertarian & Constitution/Other Parties
combined together in the second column, Democratic candidates third with a fourth column available
for write-in candidates. This has always been, by my memory, how the parties have been listed.
