The Russians are using the Chechan troops similar to how the Germans used the "Dirlewanger" troops in WW2.

They're soldiers who fight "outside the lines" of conventional warfare.

I'll just leave that there.

The one on the right is in a video stating let the Chechens will not fight for Russia. Alexander Vindman posted it.

Of course I have no idea what’s going on over there

I can't find that in a quick net search, other than that an area of Chechnya was called Chechan.

But I can't find any English-language source that uses that spelling. Nor does the (I believe) Ukrainian tweeter that you have linked to.

It's obvs. not a typo, as you use it consistently.

Just curious.
