FL VOTERS: Know what's on your ballot before you go

A great site to use:

http://collinscenter.org/2012flamendments/home-2/

Goes over all Amendments, what they mean, pros and con arguments so you can make an informed decision.

These amendments are a bear to understand and they are designed to keep you at the ballot booth for a long time as you try to decipher them. This is to discourage those waiting on line. By knowing the amendment and how you'll vote in advance you're helping everyone get a shot at voting by completing your ballot faster.

I also used this Google query to look at how the Florida newspapers are recommending you vote in case you just need a little guidance.

https://www.google.com/search?q=fl+amendments+endorsements&aq=0&oq=fl+endorsements+am&sugexp=chrome,mod=0&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Hope this helps.

I'm going tomorrow morning at 6:30Am to be one of the 1st in line. I already have my choices written down so I can be in and out in less than 5 minutes. Make this your goal too. Pass this info on to your friends, neighbors and co-workers so they know as well.

.... giving a property tax break to low income seniors who have lived in their house 25 years is a Republican thing worthy of scorn.

NO, to all State amendments (they are all a bunch of tax property decrease schemes that will cost the state billions and actually favor the wealthy with their second or third vacation homes).

I don't know about individual county or local issues, that's something one needs to look into themselves. The ballot is very long and full of a bunch of jargon that, when read, doesn't really give one any idea if they are supporting or not supporting an issue. Its also designed to bog down the election process and take longer at the poll. If you can vote early, please do. My husband and I have elected for the mail in ballot option. That is probably the easiest way to vote in FL... The ballot comes every election (even in off years when many don't vote), so you don't have to think about primary voting dates or off election years. Its also trackable by the routing #... I can look to make sure that our ballots have been accounted for with the tracking info.

Honestly, everyone in FL should sign up for mail in voting... It is so much easier. If you move, of course, your info needs to be updated, but it is incredibly convenient.

I think it's ok to give long term residents of 25 years or more a tax break. Many elderly are stuggling down here and the low interest rates on their savings don't help. I'm fine with this amendment. Respect all opinions though and open to changing if someone has a better argument I haven't heard yet.

I've been making GOTV calls the last couple of weeks urging people to get mail ballots. Mail in ballots must be requested prior to 5 pm on the 6th day prior to the election. I interpret that as Tuesday, Oct. 30th. You can call in the request to your county's Supervisor of Elections.

At this point, early voting is probably a good alternative. Early voting starts tomorrow (the 27th) and runs through the following Saturday, November 3rd. Hours and locations vary by county.

Repeating what everyone has been saying- no on all amendments and yes on retaining the judges.
