Trump still says his supporters weren't behind the Jan. 6 attack -- but I was there - Lauren HodgesLast edited Sun Jan 2, 2022, 10:57 AM - Edit history (1)

"I was standing amid thousands of Trump supporters on the lawn rising up to the Washington Monument," says NPR's Tom Bowman. "Then Trump came on stage to raucous applause." Bowman was reporting from the "Save America" rally in Washington, D.C. on Jan. 6. Up until the point when former President Trump began speaking, the rally held a festive air, almost like a football game, he said. But things were different at the Capitol building, where I was standing with Hannah Allam, NPR's extremism reporter. The far-right group the Proud Boys had just shown up and were organizing a crowd to head for the rally. We had quietly embedded ourselves with them as they began to walk west on Pennsylvania Avenue. As it was unfolding, we asked one of the rioters, who called himself "Joe from Ohio," what the goal was. "The people in this house, who stole this election from us, hanging from a gallows out here in this lawn for the whole world to see, so it never happens again," he said. "That's what needs to happen. Four by four by four, hanging from a rope out here for treason." A makeshift gallows with a noose was actually built on the Capitol grounds that day but was never used.......

1. Boy it's late in the game for them to attempt to float the Antifa Playbook again
There is a point where they destroy their own credibility - if they have any remaining.

you know the world is in a bad place.

3. "Trump still says his supporters weren't behind the Jan. 6 attack"
From NPR:
On Jan. 6, 2021, hundreds of supporters of former President Donald Trump broke through police lines and stormed the U.S. Capitol, forcing a panicked evacuation of top political leaders and threatening the country's peaceful transfer of power. The violent attack was an act of domestic terrorism, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation. https://www.npr.org/2021/02/09/965472049/the-capitol-siege-the-arrested-and-their-stories#:~:text=On%20Jan.%206%2C%202021%2C%20hundreds%20of%20supporters%20of,terrorism%2C%20according%20to%20the%20Federal%20Bureau%20of%20Investigation. Despite the media's trying to sell the Republican line that there is division in America on what happened on Jan. 6, 2021 but the real division is about who supported the violence, treason, and trying to cover it up and the real Americans who were sickened by what happened. ![]() |

6. Yes, talk about "gaslighting."
Granted, everything the GOPers are claiming about Biden's mental facilities apply to Trump--in spades. Anyone who listens to any of his interviews, or watches his dumbass rallies, has seen many multiple incidences where he shows signs of massive mental decline. He could very well believe what he's saying, but that's only because he no longer is possession of all of his mental facilities. Whether it's dementia, Alzheimer's, untreated syphilis, stress, or whatever, he's not all there. Hasn't been for a long while, and it's just gotten worse since he left office.

13. TFG hasn't "been there" for 40 + years
Anybody who willing pays 10s of thousands of $s per year to make him look like he does has to be nucking futz.
What sane man would look into a mirror and see the clown make up, the costume, that thing on his head, along with the lifts in his shoes, and his alleged adult diapers and would thing now that is a good look has to be crazy. And just as crazy is TFG still trying to tell us that his supporters had nothing to do with the violence and attempted coup. ![]() |

Whenever something puts Trump in a bad light or he's about to get into trouble for something, then everything that comes out of his mouth will be a lie!

10. This Trumpian ruse roped in his naive followers
who won't, for some inexplicable reason, believe that Trump is a pathological liar. I watched his rally at the Ellipse and the instant I heard him say, "I'll go with you" to the Capitol, my stomach knotted up. There was absolutely no way the Secret Service would allow any POTUS to lead a potentially violent mob to invade the Congress.

11. The fact that the imaginary "extremist group antifa" was not there for their prefab "victory"
is probably the reason we still have a Constitutional Republic, at this time.
Wonder if Joe from Ohio has figured out yet that if we were hanging traitors and seditionist four by four, he would be one of them? |

15. Our nation is firmly in the grip of Fascists and heading for a plutocratic dictatorship.
People have been warned and warned to no avail. Its business as usual and full steam ahead. Jan 6 was just a minor blip in the road; nothing to worry about and anything to the contrary is just hyperbola spread by hysterical people. They are eggheads and especially the liberal press who are just jealous of Trump who exaggerate his so-called pathological lying. Nothing to see here folks, move on or move over.

19. And get this: A year later, some of these clowns are disappointed
They feel abandoned by Trump because he hasn't been there for them:
"It went from 100% support for President Trump and the idea that the election was fraudulent at the beginning ... to the recognition that he was misled. He's sitting in a detention facility here in Washington, D.C. and this big powerful former president who said 'meet me at the Capitol', he's too busy playing golf and has no interest in any of the guys that have been arrested," [Tampa Bay criminal defense attorney Bjorn] Brunvand said.
He said Palmer took President Trump's words that day as a directive. That he did it for him. And now he feels abandoned. "Not only did he not show up, he's not there for anyone who were there and supposedly were there to save democracy and save the country. When in fact, they were doing quite the opposite," Brunvand said. You know, though, that just one come-hither comment by the former guy, and these nitwits would come running like Samson to Delilah. |

21. Given that hundreds of these people have been arrested and they are all Trumpers
Makes that lie even more absurd. Not to mention, it means some of his biggest fans are facing jail as Trump abandons them calling them Antifa, which in essence is calling them traitors.
