My jaws are tight so forgive me. Seems the man is in fair condition n law enforcement considering charges. I should think. Petitions for it are making its rounds. There was no tranquilizer available so the Deputy shot the Tiger to save the mans life. The Tiger retreated but a drone showed he was not moving so a second shot to make sure. Were supposed to be the higher intelligence on the scale but.. we gotta manage our endangered wildlife for their own good. BS. How did they survive since forever w/o our assistance? Put em in cages where their instincts and natural life is restricted for our viewing. There are many here very upset about this as am I. I fully realize there are other pressing important issues these days but so is this. Im so not happy.

(51,308 posts)This incredibly rare and beautiful creature is dead because of the actions of a fucking idiot, sadly, not so rare, and certainly not so beautiful.

(122,030 posts)zoo is open they have a tranquilizer gun on standby in case something happens with a tourist. But they don't have the tranquilizer on standby when it is only staff at the facility after hours. I guess they should assume some of their staff would be an idiot.

A fucking idiot, though. youre right about that.
No doubt the cop is bragging about having shot a tiger.

(18,801 posts)I do know that this Zoo has worked hard over the years to improve..it used to be an after thought. I am not a supporter of Zoos unless they have an active program for conservation for habitats in the wild. This is a small zoo by comparison but maybe this horrible event changes things. Its the humans who need restricted n educated.

(122,030 posts)A dump truck drove through the Asian rhinos enclosure and the male charged because he thought it was an interloper. Grade seven boys were taunting the silverback Charles by calling out "Harambe Harambe" in a really snotty little grade 7 boy way. I'm sure a gorilla gets when it is being verbally harassed. I can't remember what else but I got home, was on my cell phone and that video of the orangutans trying to protect his forest from a front end loader in Indonesia was up online. I kept thinking 'what have we done'.
