Another Octogenerian Vote For Obama In Ohio!
Some of you may remember my post about my 83 year old mother who voted for President Obama this year. This is the first time she's voted since 1992 when she voted for Bill Clinton. She's just not a political person, but she's worried that Robme will try to take her Social Security and Medicare.
So, last night around 7:30 her friend stopped by and I overheard their conversation from the kitchen. Her friend said that she has never voted before in her life, but "That Romney fella scares the dickens out of me. I'm afraid he's going to take my Social Security and that and my small pension is all I have to live on."
My mom told her that I volunteer to drive people to the polls and she called me in to the kitchen. Her friend said that she didn't need a ride to the Board of Elections, but would I be willing to meet her there so I could show her what to do? She said that she has never used a computer before and maybe I could help her. I explained the touch screen process and I said of course I would help her if they would let me.
This morning we met at the Board of Elections and I walked in with her. She got her card to put in the machine and she looks at the guy behind the counter and says, "Is it ok if this young man helps me? He's a friend of mine and he's going to show me what to do." I looked at the man and smiled and he said, "Sure. If you need anymore help just let me know."
When we were finished she turned her card in and we walked to the parking lot and she gave me a big hug and said, "I feel so much better now." I told her to make sure she tells everyone she knows to get out and vote and if any of them need a ride just give me a call.
