I've been following his podcasts on Youtube for a while. I like what I hear, but he's a controversial guy. His real name is Justin King and he describes himself as an adversarial journalist. Some have accused him of being antisemitic although I've never seen that. He has also spent some time in prison. His voice is soft and soothing. To me, he comes across as a survivalist, yet with an edge of something I can't put my finger on--a potential cult leader? Plus, a "fifth column" is defined as a person or group that subverts a movement from within. I'd appreciate DU-ers opinion. Thanks.

(61,593 posts)but I don't know anything about his personal life or background. Gives off that redneck, southern, good-ole-boy vibe that may be part of the show.
I don't follow him per se, but I watch from time to time.

(16,581 posts)Much like Trae Crowder, and it is part of the show. His past is mysterious and it almost sounds like he may have been a contracted mercenary at one time. Some say his time working with the military changed his entire outlook on life. He's also an avid conservationist with a deep affection for wolves.
Thanks for your input.

(26,344 posts)and if the patch is upside on his hat he is talking to Republicans. Or at least thats what I heard.
Laffy Kat
(16,581 posts)I didn't know that about the patch on his cap. The only patch I've seen is a Curious George that I find endearing.
Thanks.

(16,581 posts)And he denies it.
He is an admitted anarchist which doesn't bother me in the least. It's an ideal many of us share.

(12,742 posts)That can skirt a fine line between anti-Israel and anti-Semitic.
I havent heard anything myself.
He seems a lot more radical than I am, but I also think he understands the nuance that gets overlooked in a lot of left-wing commentary.
Hes one of a very small list of YouTube commentators I appreciate.

(1,132 posts)Specifically his discussion on AR 15s. He breaks down the mistakes made in discussions about gun control.
The focus should be on the reciever. Which is the trigger mechanism. He points out the mistakes gun control advocates always make is focusing on the " scary black plastic parts".
Its been a year or so but I think it was a 2 part vid.
Always found his vids thought provoking and well informed.

(5,919 posts)Of course, that could also be a manufactured image. You really never see anything but some sort of shed that he films in.

(1,132 posts)He just came home from church and was really upset with something a church official said to him.
Along the lines of violence against "others".

(30,818 posts)He does want to make change, make progress. Doing Youtube is not subversion. It can be persuasion.
Time in prison? However, not a deal breaker for me-- so did lots of nice people like Gandhi and Mandela.
