Warriors' Steve Kerr responds to Kyle Rittenhouse verdict: 'This is America'

Warriors’ head coach Steve Kerr said what many were thinking after a jury acquitted Kyle Rittenhouse of all charges on Friday.

“This is America,” Kerr said Friday before his team played the Pistons. “We’re treading down a dangerous path.

“It wasn’t a shocking verdict, but one that poses great risk going forward if we continue to go down this path. ... States determining that people can just carry — even underaged people — weapons of war,” Kerr also said.

Rittenhouse, 18, shot two men to death and wounded another in Kenosha, Wis., last summer during anti-police brutality protests. On Friday, a mostly all-white jury ruled Rittenhouse “not guilty” and believed he was a scared teen defending himself instead of a vigilante.

I think if the skateboard guy (victim) was on trial the judge would be completely different to him. The judge was terrible and that was a big part for Rittenhouse.

When he played for the Bulls, there were some extraordinary players on the team. It was a legendary time in sports.

I believe he fantasized himself as a militia member; acting out as a "citizen soldier".
The way he carried himself walking down the street, gun in hand, prior to the fatal confrontation shows me he was ready for violence.

So now we can expect other white males to play the "Rittenhouse card" at scenes of civil disobedience.

There needs to be a wrongful death suit by the families of the two he killed. There need to be consequences for his actions.

I wanted to be Sgt Rock as an 7 year old boy growing up in the 50s. But I grew out of it.

When he was a student at the University of Arizona, his father was murdered by terrorists in Lebanon. So he has some first-hand life experience with political violence.
