if they regain the House. How does McCarthy feel about that? The media and others should pester McCarthy with that question. Over and over. And get other Republicans in the House thinking about it. Depending on the Republican member tell them TFG will take away their committee assignments or something crazy that scares them.

(38,414 posts)There's no requirement to be a member of the House to be elected Speaker. With that being said, it won't happen.

He would see that as beneath him and its too much work.
It would guarantee a flip in the house in 24, if they take it at the midterms, and would cause a huge blue tsunami.

(42,583 posts)The chances of the House making Trump speaker (assuming the Repubs gain control of the House) are zero.

(24,287 posts)That requires focus and forethought. Neither of which Trump possesses. But yes, Repubicans, make him your HML in 2022. See how this helps in 2024

(3,622 posts)If they did this (which they just might, given the makeup of the GQP nowadays) it would be political suicide. He has none of the skills necessary to be an effective Speaker. It would be grandstanding and showboating on an epic scale and accomplishing less than nothing, compared to Pelosi's very impressive performance in her turn.

(16,085 posts)Tfg would have to actually do some work, as one person stated earlier. Not a cushy job n that position is number 3 for succession. Not good enough. Its amusing to get a glimpse of a madman n his obsession to be someone hell never be.

(13,579 posts)I don't know how the constitution deals with such a scenario because, contrary to the intent behind the order of succession, this would end up putting someone specifically not elected to any federal office, into the office of president.
