we're free to vote in whichever primary we choose. Democrats don't have much of a chance here, so the election is more or less decided in the Republican primary. I vote in their primary when I see someone particularly scary who has a good chance of winning it. I still vote for the Democrat in the general election, of course. Sometimes you have to vote strategically in order to make sure the radical nutbars don't take Congress. More Democrats in red states should do this more often.

here in Florida for YEARS. I voted for Newty Gingrich one time in an effort to give the favorite one less vote. Feels good every time I do it. One has to be registered that party in order to vote in that party's primary. Then I go back to registered Democrat when I don't need to be a repub. DO IT.

Voting for moderate Rs might be the only way we can get any representation.

For two reasons, most of our local elections are decided in the D primary, so they vote for the more “conservative” candidates. They also do things like vote for Bernie in the D presidential primary to try to get the most left leaning national candidate nominated.
