GQP McCarthy gives longest House floor speech in history delaying Build Back Better vote

House Democrats pushed back a vote on President Joe Biden's plan to dramatically expand the social safety net after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy stalled floor action with a record-breaking marathon speech that stretched into the early hours of Friday morning.

McCarthy, a Republican from California, started his speech at 8:38 p.m. ET, and stopped speaking early Friday morning after eight hours and 32 minutes, making his remarks the longest House floor speech in history.

looks like McCarthy caught it!

Former president Donald Trump shows "no remorse" for the Capitol insurrection, according to ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl.

Appearing on MSNBC on Thursday night to discuss his new book, "Betrayal," Karl talked about his interview with Trump in March at the former president's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

"I was looking for something," Karl said. "I wanted to see any hint of regret, any hint of remorse for what happened on Jan. 6. ... Absolutely none."

Karl added that Trump was in "a good mood" — and got "excited" when talking about the "terrible things" that fellow Republicans had done to him, including former Vice President Mike Pence and former Attorney General Bill Barr.

Host Joy Reid later asked Karl whether Trump came across "as somebody who is rational (or) mentally all there."

"It's a very strange thing," Karl responded. "He comes out — he's gregarious. He's got a way of trying to charm you. He doesn't seem like he's somebody who's completely insane at all. He conducts himself, he conducts his business. But it's the lack of any sense of remorse, I think, that really comes across as, there's something that's just not right."

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi used a similar tactic as minority leader in 2018, speaking for more than eight hours on the House floor in a speech about young undocumented immigrants, the previous record for a floor speech.

it took him and Ryan and that fucking gang 90 minutes to pass a 1.5 trillion tax cut, that basically fucked the middle class, I guess he forgot to mention that my taxes go back up in 2024 while the oligarchy and 719 of the richest that don't pay shit in taxes now get to keep there tax cuts...so he and his caucus can basically go fuck themselves....

I am surprised he wasn't down at the traitors home giving the speech while kissing his ass, what remarkable his that his bunch didn't think the election was fair, and my question then is why is he allowed to speak at all ........

What a waste of time.

2022 & 2024 issues the Dems are now and have been working to help the American people and the GOP
are insurrectionist support shits, who worked to spread C-19, supported Vlad Putin's attack on America,
and are so shitty that they want to have the American people hurt and in some cases die so they can
cling to power as minority party.

Eight hours is nowhere near a record for a filibuster, but filibusters usually occurred in the Senate.

Words, randomly engaged and blurted forth, do not qualify as "speech" regardless of the passion behind them.
