Alabama Republican touts provision in infrastructure bill he voted against

Rep. Gary Palmer (R-Ala.) this week touted a provision in the bipartisan infrastructure law that President Biden signed on Monday, despite the fact that he voted against the legislation.

Palmer issued a statement on Monday highlighting a provision under which Alabama will receive $369 million over five years for a road project in the state called the Northern Beltline.

“This is the opportunity we have been working for as a region and a state," Palmer said. "Now is the time for us to take advantage of it and complete the work by finishing the Northern Beltline and building a better future for the Birmingham metro area and central Alabama.”

Palmer's statement drew criticism on Twitter from Democratic lawmakers such as Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) and Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.), who noted that he voted against the infrastructure package. "You mean the funding you voted against? That funding?" Swalwell tweeted.

That’s why we need our own network pushing back on the every single lie they tell the public, 24/7.

Biden right now is doing the best job I have I ever seen a President do* but the right wing outlets,
some of the 24/7 cable news networks, and even the traditional networks are pushing gloom and
doom about Bidden/Harris and the democrats 24/7.

Inflation!

His Poll #s!

V.P. Harris in trouble!

Gas Prices!

Supply Chain!

The air evacuation from Afghanistan was a mess! (not really it was a huge success)

The word has gone out. Get Bidden.

and the Tongass Rain Forest in Alaska along with the Chaco Canyon area in N.M., The Grand Staircase
Escalante in Utah, and the underwater national park in the Atlantic off of the Cape Cod region.

Right-wing Republican (and turn-coat Dixiecrat) Phil Gramm was famous for taking credit for spending initiatives and infrastructure projects he’d voted against. Both Texas Republicans and the bamboozled goobers who voted for him in the general elections never figured out that he was bamboozling them.

But I would like to see a provision in such bills to the effect that if a member who votes against the bill subsequently touts what it accomplishes for his or her district, the funds boasted of will be rescinded, and a letter sent on House or Senate letterhead to all constituents explaining just what happened....

They did the same thing with COVID relief when they voted against the measures.

It helps when you have no shame.
