Officials say that President Joe Biden and his administration failed to effectively message or aggressively muscle its economic agenda through Congress and that, in the process, they allowed the party to grow more fractious.
Faiz Shakir, a senior political adviser to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), said lawmakers have taken advantage of Bidens reluctance to make demands in negotiations over his agenda. The president, he said, needed to start playing more of a leadership role.
We need less talk and a lot more action, Shakir said. It's important for the president to be seen as trying desperately to get to yes. Even if other people already are concerned, wishy washy, not sure the president needs to be forceful.

(6,232 posts)to the point of ignoring what the repukes are doing. And, of course, in this day and age, people expect things to happen fast. If he doesn't get on the stick, he's probably going to lose a lot of Democrats. Which would be tragic for the future of this nation.

Mr. Shakir does not have a particular stellar record of winning
What I cant grasp is the need some Democrats feel to voice their complaints of the President or other Democrats to the press
Who are they actually trying to convince?
Look what I am doing, see, I can wave my arms and blame the President instead of directly talking to the President

Btw, these are the words of your people, Sen Sanders.
The BIF was held up in the House after the Senate passed it TWO months ago.
Who insisted on going for broke, shoving another $100 in the slot machine claiming "This time it's gonna hit the jackpot!"
Now it's "Biden's reluctance"?
Where were you?

Where were they all, to keep VA from turning Red?
Where were YOU Sen Sanders?

(24,406 posts)1. If Democrats in the House and Senate are being recalcitrant, it's really more up to the House and Senate Leadership to corral and get them in line. Biden can help, but there are more immediate parties that can exert more power and influence JMHO.
2. What CONCRETE suggestions do they have for Biden to do? I feel like these are always more generalized and non-specific criticisms, but if I were Biden I'd be puzzled over what exactly they want me to do? And why aren't the people complaining doing something (showing everybody else the way). It's like dealing with some people in the house complaining about something or other not getting done, but not doing anything themselves to get things done either.
