This is why Republicans are good at messaging
This isn’t a post peddling right wing talking points. It’s a post about how Democrats need to dumb down their message and stick to scripts like this. Republicans are good at saying simple bullshit like this and having all its members regurgitate it over and over and over wherever they go.
They have been doing the same crap for 40 years now and it works, while Democrats talk to professorial. I can watch a dozen news shows on Sunday and every single Republican will say the same exact thing, while Democrats go on shows and all are saying the same thing, but it sounds different because they aren’t regurgitating the same words. We learned that parents should be empowered to make decisions about their children's education, not the federal government. We learned that Americans want more jobs, not more government welfare and reckless spending creating inflation. Americans want to fund their police departments, not defund them. Americans want freedom, not far-left socialism," House Republican Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (N.Y.) told reporters.
"This is the message that united Americans across the country from New Jersey to New York to Virginia to Texas and united Americans behind Republicans last night. ... Republicans are the party of parents, of education, of small businesses, of freedom and family. Democrats are the party of big government socialism, creating crisis after crisis." https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/gop-leader-says-republicans-could-flip-60-seats-next-year/ar-AAQhOQt

12. Well..they certainly played
The boogie man education card. Interviews showed voters did not know what they voted against didn’t exist. Misinformation n downright lies need nipped in the bud early as they become “truth” to people who won’t take the time to check out what they’re told on FB or other means. Gonna be tough to do but we gotta do it.

16. Bernie's "trust buster" message was resonating in the back hills
and that terrified the status quo in both parties, now mostly wholly-owned subsidiaries of Wall Street, thanks to Citizens United.
Democrats need to define The Enemy and that enemy is "The Big Money Boys Downtown." That message sells. Ya gotta gin up a bigger mob to win these days. And for that you need a Public Enemy #1. And that Enemy is, and always has been, the fucking money lenders in our temple. Not that hard, really. Of course, ya gotta have really good security to keep you safe from the Oswalds of this world, but that's the price. "And Bobby went after the mob..." Sometimes it takes martyrs, sadly, for actual change to happen. |

And I don’t think Democrats can ever reach them through effective messaging, but we need to frame our messaging to persuade Democratic voters who aren’t consistently voting to actually get out to vote

21. They think they are the party of ...
… “parents, of education, of small businesses, of freedom and family”. And perhaps more importantly, the right leaning independents believe that as well. And to be honest, many of these people are hard working Americans who love their families and want what’s best for them.
Their leaders, on the other hand, are genuine shitbags for the most part. I think too often we forget to make that distinction. Here at DU, most of us despise Republican politicians. I know I do. But I don’t despise my neighbor or co-worker who votes Republican. I don’t get it most of the time, but I don’t hate them. There IS a segment of their base that is pure crap - racist, mean spirited, indecent assholes who are worthy of contempt. And there are more of them since Тяцмp and some others came on the scene. More than I had expected. But I still believe they are a much smaller but increasingly vocal minority than we perceive them to be. |
