NJ, VA regularly vote in essence "opposite" the presidents party. Yeah, we beat Trump, but we lost seats in the house just 1 year ago. We picked up some senate seats, mostly because of the run off election in GA and Abrams work down there. Other than that, the situation is normal and every election is going to be a battle with scary losses and hopeful wins.
We live in a country were 30% of the voters get sucked into lies like CRT. That leaves the democratic party in general, and progressives specifically with a 30 point deficit before the game ever starts. That and some 4 - 7 % of "independent" voters that are never happy and vote one party on election, only to get pissed off and switch 2 years later.

In one sense we should consider this a "win" for that fact alone.
