Artnet: We Got the First Look Inside Hunter Biden's Hush-Hush Gallery Show

We Got the First Look Inside Hunter Biden’s Hush-Hush Gallery Show, the Least-Seen, Most-Talked About Debut in the Art World

Hunter Biden’s New York art debut, months in the making, is a hushed and intense affair.

Approaching Georges Bergès Gallery in SoHo, you are greeted by a haggle of paparazzi parked outside. The door is locked and a security guard asks for your name before letting you in. It’s open by appointment only.

Titled “The Journey Home,” the show includes 25 works on canvas, metal, and Japanese Yupo paper. It may be one of the most talked-about and controversial art exhibitions in recent memory.

Concerns over conflicts of interest have reached the White House and the Capitol. The artist—the 51-year-old son of U.S. President Joe Biden—has been criticized and ridiculed by the conservative media and former President Donald Trump. His dealer, Georges Bergès, 42, has received death threats and the gallery was vandalized in July.

“It’s a very important exhibition for me because all eyes, like literally outside of the window, are on us,” Bergès told Artnet News at the gallery this week as paparazzi snapped photos through the glass.

The artworks pulsate with color, deep reds, ultramarine blues, and gold leaf. Most seem allegorical, steeped in mythology, symbolism, and personal history. Snakes twirl their bodies around totems. Dragons spit fire. Geometric forms float in space against densely patterned backgrounds. A solitary male figure is outlined here and there, at once part of and apart from this universe of symbols, shapes, and creatures.

3. I think his work is amazing. The RWNJ's wouldn't know good art if it hit them in the face.

They're the people who think that nut job who portrays TFG as a hero all the time is great art.

4. IDK why, but my Google Plug-In hides these images

It's "Make America Kittens Again", and it's meant to hide pictures of TFG, his spawn, and their courtiers.

But not Hunter Biden, porr bastard.

6. Well, maybe you should get rid of the plug-in?

Doesn't sound like it's very well implemented to me.

7. I don't think it's kept up to date anymore.

But I can't tell you how valuable it's been to my mental health. It's cut the visual pollution of seeing TFG's toxic face every f'ing day by a third.

8. Whatever you think you need. Your life is not much diminished by

not seeing Hunter Biden's artwork, either.

I wouldn't let an add-on like that censor my searches, though, quite frankly. Make no sense to me, really.

11. Also it amuses me.

So there's that.

It censors images that pop up on websites like DU, not searches. I doubt Google would allow a plug-in like that!

10. As with all artists, some of it I like, and some is take-it-or-leave it.

It's all still a zillion times better than anything I can do. And, it all beats stealing clothing and handbag designs, and slapping one's name on cheap imitations.

14. If those are all his paintings shown - he's ALL over the map style wise.

Pastiches of other people's styles.
Despite my like of Joe, am I the only one one DU that sees this as extremely poor optics? I won't go into
specifics b/c I'm sure it would get many people riled up. But really?

No, I am not worried about “the optics.” The man has to have his own life.

27. That was my original impression, but

I have no idea if this is supposed to be a career retrospective, or a sampling of his work from different periods. Or maybe he hasn't found his comfort zone yet. Most artists' work changes with time - Picasso's later works are nothing like his early ones, although if you look at a lot of them you can see trends.

15. He's talented

and Joe isn't out there promoting his endeavor. That should be the end of the story.

Instead, we get pukes whining and complaining when they should be considering that in contrast, their idol's sons grifted their way through four years and exploited the office of the presidency to kill rare animals, enrich themselves, and get away with various crimes.

16. Hunter has found his calling. He's extremely good...

There was an article posted here months ago, with lots of photos of his work, and I was able to blow up the images on my screen to see more detail. His use of color, line, and media is incredible.

If I were able to secure an appointment at that gallery, I’d want to go just to look at it IRL. If I had the kind of money (hahahahaha as if) it would take to buy one, I would. I don’t begrudge the price tag — as has been pointed out before, that’s up to the gallery owner, more than the artist. And, well, those armed security guards protecting against death threats add to the overhead.

have gotten him a decent following on social media and some good sales through there and local art shows around the country.

Does anyone know if he is on Instagram becsuse he should be ? At least just to display his art.

29. the Painter Act

it just had to be filed by a floriduh congress person and of course it would apply to the current and future presidents.

Crickets about tfg's adult kids.

Great paintings by Hunter none the less.
