I'm in a bit of a pickle...
My mother is severally ill in Phoenix. I’m living in the middle of the UK. I’m a Michigan Expat.
I’m not sure she’s going to make it. Gout, Bone infection, Kidney failure… its not looking good. My wife and I have had both Astra Zeneca jabs. Unfortunately, the US doesn’t recognize it. If I travel back, I’ll be forced into quarantine for 7 to 10 days. She might die between now and then Is there anyway possible to obtain a medical pass to avoid a quarantine? Do I need to write my congress-person or senator? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Kindest regards to all… Joe.

You may find them helpful. They carry sway in AZ politics, rightly or wrongly. I'd even consider reaching out to the Mormons, considering the location. There're people who have the power to help; you just have to find them.
Sadly, it's how the game is played. Good luck! |

Here is a solid resource from the American Embassy in the UK
https://uk.usembassy.gov/visas/u-s-visa-and-travel-faqs/ It appears you only need a negative test close to travel, and maybe a few follow up tests while in the usa. There should be some kind of compassionate exemption to check in on mom. You might not be permitted to bar hop, but that would be crazy given the current crisis in the USA. |

17. Thanks, but its not so solid for Arizona.
The AZ website says nothing about our situation.
Its kind of useless - from my initial check. And the federal site just redirects to AZ. |

16. My son's family moved back to the U.S. from Sweden in July
without having any COVID vaccinations at all since they didn't want the A-Z. They just needed a negative COVID test within 72 hours of their flight. No quarantine upon arrival. The first thing they did when landing here was to get their Pfizers.
Good luck in your quest, and better health wished to your mom. |

30. This may sound counter-intutitve
but reach out to a travel agent. They are up on all requirements and can help you figure this out. You may have to pay a fee, but usually it's $250 to book tickets. (Which is a lot, but with your emergency situation, it seems like a good idea.)
Having said that, i would be surprised if we didn't accept A-Z as an acceptible vaccine. It's so widely used, and they even did testing here in the USA for it. |

emergencies.
In my case, within a few hours of getting the senator's flag on my files and case, I got overnight delivery of documents allowing me to travel right away. It was amazing. |

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requires all air passengers entering the U.S. to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three days of international departure. There are no current travel restrictions or quarantine mandates for individuals visiting Arizona from other U.S. states. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, foreign nationals who have been in any of the following countries during the past 14 days may not enter the United States*:
China Iran European Schengen Area (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Monaco, San Marino, Vatican City) United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland) Republic of Ireland Brazil South Africa India ... that does not seem good. My brother in law married a Malaysian and it took over ten years for them to get the government to acknowledge their marriage and officially acknowledge her US citizenship.

36. If you are a US citizen, your UK/EU spouse may travel with you
You need the negative PCR tests less than 72 hours old. You must also bring a copy of your marriage certificate to the airport of departure. But foreign spouses have been exempted from the travel ban all along (read the fine print), as long as they accompany their American spouses. They do not even need to return together, but get a new test before you leave to go back.
My wife is a German citizen, and has been allowed to accompany me back fo the USA all three times I have been back since the summer of 2020. There nonstop flights from London to Phoenix on British Airways, so you can land near where you have to be. |
