Carl Bernstein Warns: We're In A Civil War
Of course, Brianna Keilar responded by changing the subject to what Dems should do. The News Media Never asks what the Republicans do.
Carl Bernstein is not mincing words. "Democracy is in peril because the Republican party has become the party of Trumpism, and the party of disenfranchisement," he told CNN's Brianna Keilar. "What we have seen in Idaho, what we have also seen in Arizona, in these supposed recounts ordered because of supposed voter fraud, is it doesn't exist. It is part of the big lie. The big lie is not just about the lie that Donald Trump did not lose the election, a few months ago, but rather it looks toward 2024, and the idea that we are going to have another, quote, 'rigged election.' "They're setting this up so that there can be no legitimacy in our electoral process. And the Republican party has been taken over by this movement, that is the most radical political movement of our lifetime, that has come to power in any form in Washington, in our state legislatures, but I think what we really need to acknowledge here is that we are in a civil war in this country. "We are in a cultural civil war such as we have never seen since 1860 to 1865, and that the radicalism of the Republican party today is almost comparable to a secessionist movement in this country because of what the Republican party now advocates in a kind of Trumpism, doesn't need Donald Trump anymore, he's fanned the flames, he's ignited them and the movement and we need in journalism, in particularly in the media, to start looking at what's going on in the country outside of Washington." "Republicans are not fixing their internal problem, right? They're leaning into it. So what should Democrats be doing that they're not doing?" Keilar asked. "First of all, let's look at the Republicans," Bernstein replied, putting the attention where it belong https://crooksandliars.com/2021/10/carl-bernstein-warns-were-civil-war

4. Corporate media will not tell the story
Always a few mavericks here and there, but most corporate "journalists" and "news" spokesmodels do not have the depth of soul to report the story of rising Republican fascism (with a juicy dark-ops digital quid-pro-quo boost from the Evil Empire* of Russia).
* Republican Ronald Reagan's term, which back in the day all his fellow Republicans thought was just ducky, the perfect way to describe Russia. But Repubes under their foul-mouthed Casino Hustler sold their souls altogether, and accelerated their betrayal of the USA and of American democracy. |

It also requires a breakdown of the rule of law and the destruction of democratic institutions. And that's what Trumpism is all about.

39. That is the scariest part, IT IS ALL OVER THE WORLD.
Anyone who has been paying attention to what has been going on in places like Venezuela would find similarities in the behaviour of republicans and the Chavista movement, they are imitating most of what was done in that and other countries with similar results.
Democrats do need to take measure to curtail what is happening in the USA, this is real, anyone who thinks "It Can't Happen Here" is very wrong because IT CAN! And as I said before, Brianna is correct, we cannot expect republicans to do anything, they are the ones creating the chaos, it is all on Democrats to fight back, and fight hard by passing laws that will stop republicans in their tracks. I will give just one characteristic of the Chavistas, see the similarities with republicans: Chavistas: do not plan, they plot, they don't negotiate, they extort, they don't invest in the country, they rob, they don't govern, they divide, they are not transparent, they lie And I could go one, so tell me, what in that list does not apply to republicans? |

as in "Chavizta". Not sure, to tell you the truth.
It really is not a movement, it is like here we have the "MAGATS", or the "TRUMPERS", it is just the people who followed Hugo Chavez and the premise of the current government that still holds a hook on the ignorant people who still believe in the "Socialist" (it really is Communist Dictatorship), movement initiated by Hugo Chavez. Some of them believe that Hugo Chavez visited Nicolas Maduro (Chavez successor) in the form of a bird, and spoke to Maduro. I kid you not...I know it is hard to believe, but it is true. |

44. The "radical agenda"
Bernstein says, "what is being advocated in the name of Republicanism today that is a foreign and alien ideology to this country, the which -- the likes of which no party in our history has embraced a majority or minority, one of the two parties has never embraced a radical agenda such as we are seeing now."
I'm trying to get my mind around the "radical agenda". First - elections are won by more republicans because they decrease voter rights and gerrymander. So they are in power. Second - all republicans do when they "govern" is stop things. Stop abortion; stop voters; stop fixing bridges; stop poor people from having food and education; stop black athletes from kneeling at football games; stop women from working by having no child care support (unlike every European country)... How are my two major points? Oversimplified? |

51. A few red/dead/suicidal/covid/maskhole states need to secede for the U.S. to ever get better
States like Texas will attempt it by 2024 if not 2022. I hope they leave the U.S. forever. There doesn't need to be any blood shed or a civil war, just let them go and never let them back into the U.S. again. The GOPukes don't believe in anything related to democracy, they're fascists, anarchists and nihilists.

68. Just read his book "Reclaiming History: The Assassination of President John F. Kennedy"
I was a skeptic at first, but when he goes over every minute with references
And I suggest the online version since you can click on those references it makes total sense I've also been to Dealey Plaza and the museum I am not a sniper, but that route really looked like there was plenty of time for an USMC sniper to make that shot The book repository had a lot of black employees, and their accounts were discounted because -- get this -- they were black There are conspiracies but as people say "A secret is best kept between three people when two of them are dead" We know who killed Hoffa now We know who killed Patrice Lumbumba now Why? Because someone will say something That's human nature |

57. Well, we are. A "cold" civil war but one nonetheless
Who knows if it will boil over into a full scale one, but comparisons to the UK during "The Troubles" and Syria today aren't so off base
