The press is asking Pelosi about her Catholicism
and right to life WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK!?
She's explaining She's pro-choice. I've never seen anyone ask the Protestants about their anti-family policies about their religion

All of them? One correspondent?

25. I'm Catholic and I feel that ...
very conservative Catholics want everyone to believe as they do.
Never realizing that Pelosi represents all faiths and governs that way, regardless that she's Catholic. Abortion is a religious issue not a political one. Abortion as based on the Right To Privacy (i.e. Medical Privacy). |

7. That's the right answer
Last edited Thu Sep 23, 2021, 12:41 PM - Edit history (1) "The free exercise of my religion in various contexts frees me, constrains me, liberates me, and guides me. Part of that exercise is that my walk is my own, and I don't force it on others. I know that's at variance with how a lot of people practice their religion."
EDITED TO ADD: To be clear, that's my quote of me, not what Speaker Pelosi said. |

8. I truly admire her
poised, classy, honest. I'd love to see a presser or interviewer ask a conservative about their religion and feeding the poor, child care, etc. I was really shocked her religion was called out

9. What a lovely answer.
Rather than trap her into revealing some imagined hypocrisy, the question allowed her to give an excellent message that everyone should follow: think about your religion rather than blindly follow, make it your own, and don't impose it on others.

11. Imo, it's just the way mainstream media
dogs Democrats. They wouldn't dare ask Abbott about his religion. I just turned Andrea Mitchell off. She's starting up about Biden's failures and disappointments.

17. I think it is a question about the 1st Amendment.
The First Amendment's Establishment Clause prohibits the government from making any law “respecting an establishment of religion.” This clause not only forbids the government from establishing an official religion, but also prohibits government actions that unduly favor one religion over another. It also prohibits the government from unduly preferring religion over non-religion, or non-religion over religion.
She follows the Constitution, not the Church when it comes to law. |

18. Good Thought
I like the idea of specifying which reporter asks a particular question and not referring to one single person as "The Press". This would be a more accurate depiction.

and told Catholic Bishops to lay off president Biden, well not in those exact words, but close.
Maybe the pope needs a message to lay off Speaker Pelosi? |

24. Indeed, this may be part of the problem
“So, don’t you accuse me of hate. And as a Catholic, I resent your using the word ‘hate’ in a sentence that addresses me. I don’t hate anyone. I was raised in a way that is full, a heart full of love, and always pray for the president. And I still pray for the president. I pray for the president all the time. So, don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that.” To be honest, I wish she would feel / would have felt a little more animosity toward Trump, Bush-Cheney-Rove, Mitch McConnell and the rest of the Republicans. But her levels of privilege have alleviated her from having to make that difficult choice. And so all too often, we've ended up with her making calls that don't seem to be fighting the same fight the rest of us are engaged in. She turns the other cheek and prays for Republicans while we lose Roe v Wade and other protections. This is and will remain to be a problem. |
