Police gangs in LA

There’s been some reporting about the violent gangs in the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department. Here’s a well-made video summarizing the issue, sent to me by my grandson (who has turned into a righteous lefty/progressive…nature or nurture? Either way, I can take credit, right? )

I wonder just how many ‘gangs’ there are in law enforcement and the military. These don’t seem to be overtly political, they’re just violent thugs, which jobs in policing and the military tend to attract. (Not saying all police/military, just a larger percentage than in most other jobs. But these apples can and often do spoil the whole barrel.)

I don’t know what all the solutions are to these LE problems, but having public scrutiny and some control of the police is an essential first step along with modifying qualified immunity and punishing the cr#p out of those participating in this behavior.

the FOP and other police unions are the largest organized gangs in the country, and the LAPD is one great big gang all on its own.

I agree.

The brazen lawlessness of the LASD gangs are their own more intense problem within the entire problem with law enforcement. There are at least less awful individual officers within the whole tortilla. Gangs like those in the LASD concentrate the worst of the apples into more vicious and destructive units.

I think exposing them and why the leadership hasn’t taken them down can build support for more radical change in LE departments in general. Maybe I’m being too optimistic and naive. These stories just makes me sick, though.

if he isn’t or wasn’t a member of one of the gangs from way back. No evidence, just his total assholiness.
