Nice to see this issue addressed. . . .FINALLY.
I am a white female who filed a complaint with the EEOC back in the early '80s. My attorney told me that in order to file a lawsuit against a company for discrimination, equal pay for equal work, etc. that I needed to start with the EEOC. My attorney told me that the EEOC only takes cases that are so egregious that they know they can win them. My attorney knew--even back then.
He was correct. The EEOC turned me down. He also told me that if I found another job and quit, that the courts would consider the case closed because I was no longer at the company; therefore I was no longer suffering harm. We filed without the EEOC. Then the harassment started.
I won't bore you with the details but it took years to go through the court system and the experience changed my life--and not in a good way.
My point is that the EEOC has always behaved in this noxious manner and they have been getting away with it. It's time for it to STOP!
