Boner stumping in Iowa; REFUSES to discuss specific policy positions (eg., farm bill)

U.S. House Speaker John Boehner promoted Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s economic plan in Coralville on Wednesday, but the top congressional Republican steered clear of specific policy positions. Boehner, R-Ohio, ignored questions about the federal farm bill, which expired after lawmakers left Washington with plans to return after the election.

Boehner spoke to a crowd of about 100 ( ) at the Republicans’ Coralville office. Boehner, who has been speaker of the house since Republicans won a House majority in the 2010 elections, said Wednesday was the 26th day in his 45-day campaign tour to support Romney and other Republicans.

Boehner strung together general ideas about the Republican agenda for the Coralville crowd, but his speech was short on specifics or legislative priorities for the next Congress. Boehner shook hands with crowd members and chatted briefly with a few of them, but he ignored media questions and his staffers blocked him off from reporters.
