Email from a friend.
Heres the exciting thing: Carhartt is releasing a new Made in America line of clothing that is all designed in Michigan and produced in their union Tennessee and Kentucky plants. I think its important that when a company brings manufacturing back to America that we encourage that, even if a hundred percent of their line isnt made here. By positively reinforcing, shopping that new line, etc, hopefully we can convince Carhartt and many other companies that Americans WANT to buy American, and that it can be profitable for them to manufacture things here. Since most Americans companies dont manufacture anything at all here, it seems like were really shooting ourselves in the foot if we dont give positive encouragement to the ones that are.

(41 posts)My husband and son are construction workers, working outdoors in all kinds of weather, and Carhartt has always been their preference. Good to know they're bringing back some manufacturing to the U.S.

(67,190 posts)Living in farm country Carhartt is all I ever wear. And since they exported their manufacturing their quality has suffered a lot. I was in the process of finding a new clothing manufacturer in the near future. Don't need to now. Yea, good news.
Carhartt made a good decision here.
Thanks for posting this Steve.

(19,339 posts)I'm happy these things are coming back, but Jesus Christ, maybe they should have thought of this before they left.
I'll be glad to see the union-made tag back in those Carhartts. I teared up when I saw the UFCW nod. GODDAMMIT!
Change has come

(735 posts)I have some of their pants and they're great. All the pants I have are made in Mexico, but they don't suffer any quality issues. After looking at this video I'm looking forward to getting some of the US made pants.
What I really prefer are my Roundhouse overalls. They are made in the US, just as they have been for over 100 years.
