I think he showed that Dems can and must confront lies head on (face on?). The mostly positive reaction to his calling "malarkey" had to help give staffers and Pres. Obama confidence that going with his own inclination to call out Romney's lies not only would rally the base, but would help inform voters. And, it even wins over those dummies who simply equate being assertive or aggressive with "leadership" regardless of the substance of the position taken.
Either that, or the first debate was the first part of a brilliant Rope-a-Dope strategy.

(7,237 posts)Biden absolutely laid the groundwork for last night's debate when he debated Ryan.
And he did a magnificent job... as did our President last night.

(2,404 posts)...that I enthusiastically supported Joe Biden for President during the primaries. It would take volumes to list what has made Joe Biden a strong standard bearer for "real" Democratic principles...the kind of principles that made our party the Party of the People. But above all...above all that he has accomplished in over 35 years of serving the common man, Joe is a fighter...a fighter who is as genuine as he is uncompromising.
Thank you Joe. Thank you for your unapologetic commitment to Democratic principles in your service to us all.

(2,335 posts)POTUS' advisors are all caution all the time. Joe and E. Warren. Both set up a template that even POTUS's fraidy cat advisors could not ignore.
