Golden opportunity for Biden
He should go hardline on Cuban regime now. Pressure campaign in support of protests. If it means rubbing progressives in congress the wrong way then so be it.
Become the face of Cuban democracy and the Repiblican foothold in Florida will disintegrate. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.politico.com/amp/news/2021/07/14/cuba-protests-biden-499621

2. What's the progressive in Congress want? Aren't they on the side of the protesters?
Freedom from a regime as Cubans have only known should make us all, who appreciate holding on dearly to a Democracy, stand in support of these brave protestors.
I haven't been following along with whose opposing them. I find it rather odd why anyone would, I guess. Absolutely YES. President Biden "should go hardline on Cuban regime now". Please do it ! |

3. Interestingly, I think this is one of the few foreign policy situations where both sides
support the Cuban people. Albeit, for vastly different reasons.

6. Republicans will support bigtime immigration to FL for Cubans.
As long as they vote Republican.
Democrats would like to see a successful Democratic government take hold where people don't have to immigrate. |

4. Don't think this would move many Miami Cubans to Dems side
Most are very staunch republicans.you wouldn’t believe some of the lies they believed during the election. Most believe he is a strong socialist and worse.
Obama opened the relationship with Cuba than trump closed the door on the gains. Biden did mention a few things today regarding internet availability and sending vaccines under certain conditions. |

7. You're right about that
... but the Bay of Pigs generation is dying out now. Are their kids and grandkids as conservative as the original Cuban immigrants? I tend to doubt it, but I don't really know.
It seems a good fit for Biden to reach out and make friends with the progressives in Cuba who are trying to make a go of it. ![]() ![]() |
