Some of you know that I go round after round with some friends from the old neighborhood. They are socio economically repressed (think Roseanne) and some quite frankly, are racist. Of course, they don't *think* they're racist, and I am pretty sure their education stopped before critical thinking skills were developed. They cling to the birth certificate (yup, brought up even tonight while the debate was on)
Well, it's never the rightie you're debating, it's always common friends. TWO of them, one the spouse of a friend, and the other a girl I went to high school with both sent me messages that said that they didn't always agree with me but I back it up with facts and the loved watching my retorts throughout the debate.
BOTH ARE VOTING FOR OBAMA NOW!!!
I want to thank each and every person who bothers to help anyone who says, "I am in it right now and too caught up to think clearly, please help" You help us make a marginal difference, and all those marginal differences add up to THAT margin, if we just all try. I am shaking right now, because I never would have expected this from either of these people.
I'd rather make a difference than make a dollar, and tonight, I helped make a difference! It's not the first time this has happened, and I pray it won't be the last!
THANK YOU DU!!!

They are both emphatically for Obama and VERY against Romney. No chance they're flipping back.

(10,291 posts)same debate, because Mitt's getting p'wned."
Some guy in the Army, playing the "I serve my country, what have you done?" card. p'wned. "I pay taxes so that your VOLUNTEER service comes with a paycheck". Also, every generation of my family has served since there WAS a USA (I am a Daughter of the American Revolution)
Same guy, saying Obama cut money to the military "and he can prove it". "Ok" I said, "prove it" p'wned. Not true.
THEN I said to the same guy..."are you SURE you're in the military? I'm an Army brat and I am wondering why you have such blatant disrespect for your Commander in Chief"
Now his wife is in it, calling me every name in the book and threatening to 'find where I live'. Hahahaha I am not afraid of you, and if you dish it, be ready to take it. BTW, you live off of such and such street, right? LOL, that stopped a whole lotta mess. (rednecky- p'wned)
Then they bring up birther. Then I bring up BIGOT
They try to say, "Win" with "birther" and I say, "what Constitution are you reading? and then link to the US Constitution, because while I am not sure which version of the Bible they are using (most the shit they claim is in there is not) and which Constitution they are using for the exact same reason, I am sure that Barack Obama was duly elected and sworn in by SCOTUS, so they might want to take this up with them, and decide that "THEY ARE EITHER WITH US OR AGAINST US and WHY DO THEY WANT TO SEE AMERICA FAIL? Then I mention that Mitt's father wasn't born in America either.
p'wned, p'wned, p'wned, and messages waiting.

(417 posts)My boyfriend's step dad said after the debate "I always vote Republican, but I don't trust Romney."
Fun fact: I heard this guy call the President the n-word just last year.

(10,291 posts)Like, if there aren't any minorities (aside or people who don't LOOK like a minority as in my case) that's ok to spew the n-word left and right.
That never ceases to amaze me.
