(7,947 posts)1. And then there are the fireworks injuries....
Matiss Kivlenieks, a goaltender for the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League, died Sunday night after an accident involving fireworks at a party, according to authorities in Novi, Michigan.
He wasn't even that close-- in a hot tub when the fireworks exploded.

(6,418 posts)3. The cause of death was major chest injuries
Initially they thought it was from slipping and hitting his head. So who knows if someone was trying to cover up what actually happened

(16,606 posts)4. From your link: "...the chest injury from the fireworks resulted in internal injuries..."
"Kivlenieks, 24, died from a fireworks mortar blast and chest trauma, according to Inspector Mitch Brown of the Oakland County Medical Examiner's Office.
The death was ruled accidental after a full autopsy was conducted by the Oakland County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Ljubisa Dragovic, Brown said."
Yes, he slipped and fell -- according to witnesses who themselves were in the vicinity of the blast. But the fall isn't what killed him.
