What is going on with Kentucky? Or the Dem party there? Like Montana, where my daughter moved to.
Anyone here from that state? WTF? McConnell and Paul?? In contention for two worst senators from any one state.

(11,292 posts)than the truth, democratic ideal -- or, in the end, even self interest. When you prefer hurting your opponent over any benefit to yourself -- you got some powerful hate going on.

(22,250 posts)Before I start, if anyone has more current information, I will welcome it. I'm a KY Expatriat and remember when the state was solidly Democratic. I would love to be wrong in a good way!
Coal. The people up in the Eastern Coal fields have been convinced by #MoscowMitch and others that the Republicans will magically restore all their jobs by restoring coal as the only source of employment.
The obsession with keeping African Americans "in their place".
Extreme ultra-conservative religion. Not Mega-churches as in Texas (there are not enough people to build that kind of congregation and folks do not have any money to give) What you are more likely to find are small non-denominal churches, with very strange names and preachers without training, education in theology or Biblical history.; just a certain charisma and an authoritarian style. No Dominionism or Prosperity Religion just hellfire and damnation. You can still find churches with snake handlers, speaking in tongues and other rituals you won't find outside this isolated area (this can also apply to W Virginia and TN )
Abortion, guns and gays. No further explanation needed
An election map shows the metropolitan areas are blue: Louisville, Lexington and ( new to the list) Bowling Green are blue.
When I was growing up, most of the Congressional Delegation was Democratic; interestingly the US Senators were often Republicans (old school Rs) Now the only district that is still held by a Democrat includes Louisville. Most of the governors have been Democrats.

(I realize she resigned, but that shouldn't have stopped any charges.) AG Garland, let's get an answer for that, OK?

(22,668 posts)He exemplifies money greed and racism. The day his heart stops beating will be as joyous to the masses for the burden he has brought on us all. Just as the day that T---- left office was.
Americans shouldn't be ruled and the majority should not be forced into policies that the minority propose. We are a DEMOCRACY!

(2,577 posts)Mitch is evil incarnate, and he knows it. He also knows that there will never be consequences.
For a very long time, I have puzzled as to why each time he turtles in front of a camera, every word is covered without a single question. It doesn't matter that he ISN'T majority leader, he is the one who will always be quoted.

(11,562 posts)I wonder about the results if, instead of accepting that your opponent has tapped out, you kept adding pressure or tension to various joint locks or submissions. I imagine they'd just get used to it.
Surely I can't be alone in this.
