So, yesterdat at the Petco...

...We are at the cashier's check out station, and soon there were 5, 6,then 7 more people in line, nary an employee to be found. Suddenly out of the back room comes an employee, but is grabbed up by an inquisitive buyer, I mentioned to my wife that there was just no excuse for just ONE employee in the store, and some obvious TeapubliKKKan behind us yelled out, "WELL! If Biden would quit paying people to stay home then maybe there would be more employees available."

This hopped up hosebag should have STFU, as my USPS Union Steward of a wife told her, "Well, maybe YOU would like to be a $7.25 an hour employee, instead of receiving a living wage like the rest of the civilized world. Oh, but wait, that would mean that YOU would have to actually work instead of spouting weary Fox Noise talking points, wouldn't it?". She left immediately, and I saw her drive off in her Lexus. Another guy looked up from his basket of cat food and said "Thank you, Ma'am. We need a hell of a LOT MORE of people speaking up to the ignorant!"

We went for ribs, and the dogs got their Kongs. Was a pretty good day!

1. I wonder if a better way to talk to these people is

to ask a few questions rather that lecture them...

How much do you think people work for per week at Petco? I think that's about $7 an hour.

How much is that a year? I think that's about $20,000.

Do you think you could live much less raise a family on that?

2. Raise a family?

Hell, you can't buy a use car and insure it or maintain it on that much. People can't afford to work.

4. That is $14,560 per year @$7 But that would be if they give you 40 hours -doubtful

Because even if they need people I donít think they would want benefits to kick in to add full-time work
if they do 40 hrs for 52weeksthatís what the yearly salary would be
of course before any deductions $14560.00

14. @7/hr, 40 hrs/week, and 52 weeks a year.. it's only

$14.5k. But wait, companies that pay minimum wage only let you work part time, less than 30 hours (no benefits req'd), so that's less than $11k.

And it gets better. The companies paying minimum wage won't give an employee regular hours, so they don't know when they will be working until the shift assignments are posted a week before. So working 2 jobs totaling 40 hours is not easy.

So even if you can somehow work 2 jobs, and take no days off, you would be lucky to pull in $20k.

So people take higher paying jobs and refuse to work for peanuts. And with no immigrant labor force, suck beanz.

15. Raven, I think expecting these people to talk to us is a mistake.

I have talked myself blue in the face with my trumphumper relatives and all that happens is they double down. They don't want to talk, they want you to give in, and if you don't, they verbally beat you down. They are not reasonable people in my experience.

18. Adjusted Poverty in New Jersey is around $28K. That's more than a daycare pays to watch 24 kids.

.

That's why a lot of seniors leave the state when they retire. Retirement & Social Security pays the same no matter where you live, so the only option is to move to a cheaper state.

.

19. Many people earning minimum wage have no choice but to work,

though, so for them low wages in themselves aren't the reason.

People like this obnoxious customer tend to believe in a natural, hierarchical order where low pay is appropriate for low skills. People who don't improve them prove they are less deserving than those who have, yada-yada. Thus, they know that laziness and being paid to sit around is going to be why many of them haven't reentered the labor force yet.

So, how do we talk to that? No one to watch the kids right now?

23. That is good for reasonable people. But for the typically

unreasonable Trumper, the objective is not to change minds, since thatís impossible. The objective is to let them know ó when they are the first to lecture ó that their views are NOT SHARED, and to express a better view.

5. Most of those type jobs are only 3 days a week. Our local mall

employees are only permitted 28 hours. At Mcd they will force them to work over then lay them in the next day to keep their hours down. I know people working 3 such jobs to make a living.

The standard operating procedure for grocery, retail, and fast food was 30 hrs. a week. I see nothing has changed. These places donít want to pay benefits.

don't bring in many staff during the early part of the day because customers tend to shop after work.

21. two words: gig economy

No one is staying home being the "welfare queen" They took the delivery gig jobs which were the only viable income during the lockdown. Then quickly realized they could actually earn a livable wage and be treated with dignity and respect and not be owned by a corporation.

For years they opposed minimum wage increases saying "Just get a better job!" Well guess what? They did. So stop bitching and pull yourself up by your bootstraps!

22. I remember being in a peace march against the Iraq war...

And a woman in a Lexus and a fur coat threw a milkshake at us, LOL. I'm not surprised the Trumpster was driving a Lexus. It seems to be the car people buy when they want to put forth the illusion they make more money than they do, but most people know it is really the Walmart version of a Mercedes.

Tell your wife I'm proud of her!

a lot of people who buy expensive cars, clothes, vacations, etc., but are deeply in debt. Just like their hero, except most people canít get away with not paying their bills.

These idiots live in a bubble that needs bursting.

I know a Faux News listening woman who wears $50,000 in jewelry and drives an $80,000 car...but pays "contract workers" $10/hr to avoid payroll taxes, and unemployment when she fires them. She screamed, "Why can't a find somebody like me?!?!" LOL

39. Yay!

... Great speaking up! Petco and any company can hire more workers... all that they want! Some businesses are taking the COVID opportunity to hire new, cheaper workers and more part-timers. They would rather pay no workers, social security, or health care... They want huge profits only!
