Biden's understated UK visit will be in stark contrast to Trump's triumphalism

Joe Biden comes to the UK this week for his first overseas trip as US President and the contrast with the media frenzy that anticipated Donald Trump’s visits to Britain could hardly be greater.

When the Trump show came to town, Piers Morgan was guaranteed a “world exclusive” interview, so the pair could demonstrate their mutual admiration. “The Donald” scheduled a sit-down talk with The Sun’s Tom Newton Dunn (and then criticised the write-up as “fake news”), and couldn’t keep his fingers off Twitter, either to abuse Sadiq Khan as “nasty” or boast about meeting the royals.

Biden’s style is wholly different. Guided by an all-female team led by communications director Kate Bedingfield and press secretary Jen Psaki, Biden keeps unscripted comment to an absolute minimum. He does very few interviews or press conferences.

Whereas Trump was transfixed by Fox News and would even call in to its shows, Biden mostly limits his television engagement to pre-prepared comment delivered to camera.

I'm sure you won't see any balloons of Joe in a diaper.

1. Isn't the "stark contrast" the reason why we elected Joe? We really dodged a bullet (for real)

by doing that.
