This Gaetz Yacht Story is Pretty Amazingly Odd.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9631533/Matt-Gaetz-claims-155-000-wired-close-sale-yacht-gone-missing.html

https://www.dailykos.com/stories/2021/5/28/2032607/-Who-got-Gaetz-Florida-man-blames-malicious-actors-for-failed-yacht-sale-missing-money?detail=emaildkre

Gaetz was buying a yacht and he got burned on the purchase, or so the story goes. But if you have any salt in your veins and know the sea, there are two serious details that tell you that Gaetz has no tradition of boating and no one with any knowledge spoke to him.
First off he renamed a boat. May not be a big detail to you, but in sea tradition, unless you have had nightmares demanding that you change the name or you are willing to spend serious money on the boat, you don't change the name. Even the old salts that ignore superstitions pay attention to this.

Far, far worse, you don't give a boat a name that has questionable meaning. Gaetz named the boat, "Thirsty." In old sea terms, a thirsty ship is one with a taste for it's sailors blood. It is a ship that costs money and lives.

Gaetz says he lost $155K on the deal and never got the yacht. If you detail this to anyone who knows the traditions of the sea, they will say he got of lucky. If you detail this to anyone who knows Gaetz they will say, he is lying and covering up something.

Most people claim gambling losses over a month-long bender or similar and will fly to Vegas for receipts.

To keep the attention off the real issue. The R’s think they’re masters at it but we gotcha. What really chaps me is .. he’s a congressman elected by the people he’s not serving. At taxpayers’ expense while he plays games, we as taxpayers, should demand his removal from office. NOW.

He's trying to explain his way out of money that suddenly got "lost." Hmmm...

There's nobody to corroborate the story. Hmmm...

What does he need a boat for anyway, he's supposed to be in Washington DC
working for the people. Hmmm...

Come on Florida Democrats, you deserve better than this. Vote this guy out!

11. Gaslighting to hide money laundering, or he got ripped off?

He doesn't seem like someone to let on that he got ripped off for 155k.

I think he's still got the money. It's not an insurance job so it must be a tax write off scheme...not a smart on as the IRS is unlikely to fall for this.

I also agree it's almost certainly some kind of payoff.

I remember something similar with some other RePuQ in Trump's orbit a few years back. Forget what came of it though.
