USAG Merrick Garland inherited a f-ing shit-show from Barr and Trump.
Can you Imagine having to clean-up the Department of Justice after Trump-Barr?
How can we urge USAG Garland to appoint a team of special prosecutors to investigate Trump-Barr crimes?
Regarding "that" team of special prosecutors..
Can you imagine their findings?
Trump's poison would be laid bare before the eyes of the U.S. people.
Special prosecutors would expose Trump like nothing else. It would embarrass the U.S's right wing.
It will expose them.

(86,342 posts)I am hoping that Congress gets some kind of something going on but the criminality has to be addressed immediately. I suspect that our new AG is on top of that since he stated that the insurrection was a top priority... it will all shake out from that. But I think there need to be several special prosecutors given the size of this crime.

(42,607 posts)The DOJ regs allow the AG to appoint a special counsel where The AG determines that criminal investigation
or prosecution of a person or matter by a United States Attorney's Office or litigating Division of the Department of Justice would present a conflict of interest for the Department or other extraordinary circumstances.

Regardless of how many laws he has broken.
He wont ever face a trial much less actually be convicted.
The best we can hope for is death coming to take him away.

(16,920 posts)regarding IQ45 and putting him where he belongs for his dereliction of duty regarding his 'oath of office' (yes, he DID promise to obey the law!).
However, the political climate is such that a 'truly objective' investigation regarding ANYTHING related to the past mis-administration is going to be bogged down so deep in RepubliQan bull$hit that it will never see the light of day. My GAWD, almost 1/2 of the people that could have suffered seriously injury regarding the January 6 Insurrection are now fighting to NOT have any serious investigation regarding it.

We do have to place a ton of trust in Joe and the DOJ - they have some treacherous waters to navigate to get things done. As we all know, this is one of the more serious issues facing Joe & Company. We need to be there to support them and work for a better day.

(752 posts)Special Prosecutors can do their job while allowing ASAG Garland to do his job. Restoring justice back to the DOJ after Trump-Barr is a monumental undertaking in its own right.
Garland inherited a shit-show regarding the DOJ.
Do you see how special prosecutors can actually help Garland?

See where I'm coming from?
I'm not trying to argue against you. I'm trying to back up what your saying.
Garland needs all the help he can muster. Imagine inheriting the DOJ after Trump-Barr.
