improve your numbers with white voters?
He has about all he going to get with minorities and unfortunately it seems he is a little short of the 40% he needs with white voters. I could be wrong about this, he might be able to win the election with perhaps 38% of the white vote.
There is an easy way to remedy this which would be to throw affirmative action under the bus. But this would be wrong and his support with minorities would also go down.
He probably needs to continue mentioning the working class white voters who lost their jobs because of Bain Capital. They haven't been doing that lately.

(353 posts)I`m a white person who would be appalled if he attacked affirmative action. I really do not know what you are thinking.

Many white people vote Republican simply because they think Democrats give unfair advantages to minorities at their expense. This is wrong but that's how some perceive it.

Obama has a problem in that he is perceived as being soft on the kind of financial person Romney represents, which eliminates a potentially huge advantage he should have over a hedge fund guy like Romney.

Obama simply needs to appeal to the most people on issues that are already on their minds. People are already sick of seeing jobs outsourced. The rethuglican candidate for president has a dismal record when it comes to destroying jobs and that needs to be brought up at every turn. Ads should feature average Americans fighting to save their country and their homes from the greedy who wouldn't flinch to take it all away if it meant another dime in their pockets. Show the elderly describing how they worked hard all their life and take exception to being categorized as part of the 47% that rmoney says he doesn't have to worry about.
The truth will work, but the ads have to connect to the average person.
ETA: I'd also make sure to show ads describing how not having health insurance does in fact kill people. Maybe show some folks with chronic diseases talking about how they in fact cannot get the care they need from the ER, or for free or even affordable.
