It's not Trump's Hate, Greed, Corruption, Arrogance, Lawlessness or Incompetence...
It's the fact that, in the face of all of the above, with huge mountains of evidence to support each and every one of those severe indictments made against him, that Trump is still virtually worshiped by a third of our nation that absolutely horrifies me.
Evil and vile as one man may be, he is still just one man, and in a democracy we collectively have the means to deal with any one person, once the truth about him is known. That however assumes both a functioning democracy, and citizens willing to see the truth. Both of those core premises are way too much in question now to take much comfort from them.

They are all of those things you mentioned and more. Many are in my family.

16. Hillary was right with the word, but a little bit low on the magnitude.
She said it was a basket full of deplorables.
It turned out to be a huge fleet of demolition size dumpsters full of deplorables. So many that if each dumpster was on a flatbed tractor-trailer, and one left each minute from the east coast, the first one would reach the west coast before the last one left the east coast. Trump's base is a testimony to the extent that evil that lives in the hearts of the American people. Unfortunately, it's part of who we are as a nation...it ain't going away soon, if ever. |

5. Faux Noise could stop this at any time ... but it won't
That's the sad thing for me. Chump is just one not-very-smart guy, but Twitter, Facebook and Faux Noise gave him all the free airtime he could ever want or need - for free!
Now Twitter and FB have backed away, but Faux won't until they absolutely have to. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

17. Murdoch and Fox TV are within the circle of
RW extremism, so they are promoting their beliefs and politicians who represent them. Why would they change? They cover deplorables because they are united with them. They are the public voice for them, the propaganda arm of the RWNJs.

8. Horrifying indeed.....
And while we may take 'comfort' in the 33% number supporting him, because of the arcane rules for deciding a leader (Electoral College), as well as the existence of the Senate (equal votes for every state, no matter the number of residents), we are still looking at 74 million people that thought 'he' deserved to have another 4 years to 'do his thing.'
THAT is terrifying - there are 74 million people that were OK with this shit! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

What worries me further is that the adulation might seem transferable, and Jr., Erot or Iwanna might be the next Anointed One.

20. And if it wasn't Donald Trump,
it would have been something or someone else. They were ready to follow a cause blindly, without reason. Once Trump is dead and gone, these people will still be with us. They may back off for awhile, but eventually they will be reactivated - it is like some science fiction movie.

23. Real life rebels without a cause
Just angry for the sake of being angry. It must fulfill some inherent need in them and/or they are looking to belong to a club. They really don't care what the issues are, they'll unify and fight for anything.

15. I hope your estimate of 1/3 of the country being lost to Flubbo
is not as optimistic as I think it is. I have to think with 74,000,000 adult Americans voting for him on November 3, 2020, the count is closer to 2/5, maybe slightly higher.
And that depresses the hell out of me. (I’d be scared, but I’m too old to let the assholes get me shaken’ in my boots.) I’d say Flubbo-45 hasn’t lost any votes, and that most of the 48% of American voters who voted for him think January 6 was a wonderful expression of patriotism, with the remaining few actually believing it either never happened at all or was “staged” by the Democrats and Antifa. America is teetering on the brink, as the expression goes. She srvived the 2020 election but is still being pummeled and kicked by the GOP. Joe Biden is standing with her to keep her from falling. But if Manchin and Synema insist on working with the enemy Party -- as they most certainly are -- and the Dems do not pick up a handful of additional Senate seats in 2022, Biden’s presidency will be neutered and the GOP will be able to make a serious run in 2024. |
