Re: COVID-19...at which point do we let natural selection take over?

I know it sounds harsh, but I'm distressed reading today about the US not ever reaching herd immunity. What are we supposed to do as vaccinated citizens? Are we not ever allowed to live our lives cause of those fucking idiots that refuse a vaccine? I'm not in a hurry, but the country needs to be fully opened by Labor Day...all 50 states. Those neanderthals will have had months to get an easily accessible vaccine. If they get sick and die, then so be it! I'm fully confident our health care system won't be strained as we have enough vaccinated people. I'm totally fine with wearing my masks, but events, concerts, etc. need to resume soon. I know there are variants, but pharma is making shots for the variants in the fall. If those idiots get sick and die, then that's on them.

1. That's the thing about natural selection. We don't let or not let it do anything. It just does.

Those who won't get vaccinated just won't.

5. That's what I was going to say. Smart people will continue to protect outselves.

The others will gradually die off. We don't have any say in that.

2. I for one think that natural selection/evolution has failed the human race. We're just

oh so clever that we're a threat not only to ourselves but to every living thing on Earth.

3. Soon. Maybe July. Once everyone who wants the jab has it.

Blue areas with high vaccination rates will do fine. Other areas, not so much. We are already seeing that now.

6. We are human beings, not plants or animals.

And most of us believe human life is precious.

7. It won't be natural selection.

It's going to lead us to a situation similar to todays flu, only with greater health risks.

In twenty years there will be panels determining which strain is going to be most prevalent in the upcoming season and issuing the multiple variants of the vaccine accordingly. Our initial reaction, along with vaccine hesitancy, is compounding the problem moving forward.
