Trump still popular with Florida Hispanics.

I believe that the Democratic Party will need to make a decision. Florida is at a cross roads. Either fight for the state with all it has and regain a foothold or fold the tent and focus on Texas, GA, NC, etc. One major problem that the national Democratic Party has is that the state party is weak, inept, nearly broke, and has no clue how to proceed. We’ve been dominated by the GOP for over 20 years so don’t count on the state party to figure out how to exit the wilderness.

MIAMI — Three months into Joe Biden’s presidency, enthusiasm for his predecessor is still going strong among Latino Republicans in Florida.

The South Florida-based Patriotas con Trump, or Patriots with Trump, has held multiple rallies outside Mar-a-Lago, members send messages all day in their WhatsApp group, and a smaller group of 10 meet regularly to brainstorm ways to recruit more members — and help get Republicans elected in 2022. They’re also looking ahead to 2024.

1. Hit hard about all the foaming about "socialism"

A big chunk of that are the Cubans. Hammer home that what we want doesn't look like the country they fled from. It looks like the country they fled to.

2. Florida is a lost cause.

Definitely jumped the stark.

If we couldn’t win in back last year we won’t win it back for a long while.

7. I Agree With This

If money can be better spent elsewhere, then I hope the party does. Seems like they are wasting too much on lost causes like FL & OH.

4. A lot of Hispanic men liked Trump's machismo.

That, and the fact that Republicans have successfully been able to label Democrats as socialists. We haven't fought hard enough against that falsehood.

5. grew up in Miami in the 70s and 80s

mas Canosa Cubans are hard right. I still remember , as a kid, seeing RW Cubans throwing fruit at a peaceful assembly at the JFK Torch of Friendship in downtown Miami.

They are hard right. Everything to the left of fascism is communism.

14. Yes

Florida Hispanics are not the same as Hispanics who came from Mexico, Central America, or South America. A very different history there and Cuban Americans tend to be conservative and very republican.

15. The GOP has successfully labeled Democrats as socialists and the Venezuelans have bought it

hook, line, and sinker. Rick Scott, Trump, and DeSantis have gone after them hard.

Lots of Colombians in FL are hard right also.

11. I went to the link and right under the headline are the words

"...the nexus between Trump and supporters of the Latin American right is strengthening."
Anybody already on "the Latin American right" has already drunk the kool-aid and is
pretty much lost to us here on the left. It's up to us to out-vote them.

Unless they’re providing cheap labor for one of his failing business ventures?

16. It's truly depressing. I've lived in FL all my life and it has become downright scary.

Rick Scott, Ron DeSantis, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio.

Hell, Jeb looks a tiny bit normal compared to those 4.

17. Same. I live in South Florida, born and raised.

We essentially have prime-time Fox News controlling our state government.

Given the ridiculous politics they've been playing with encouraging (or discouraging) vaccination for COVID, it makes me consider moving to another state, which is something I never thought I'd say.

The closeness of the 2018 elections gave me hope that we're on a path to winning, but 2020 dashed all those hopes seeing how many votes went to Trump.

19. It's a state where it's hard to organize. Because it's hard to make a living, people

do not want to stick their necks out. They know they can lose their jobs, or worse, their kids can get targeted.

And, seriously, I have tried to reach out to find like-minded people and it's impossible. It's such a weird state. None of us have anything in common with each other.

18. That kind of makes it amazing that the supposedly terrible candidate in 2016

did so well with Florida Latinos.
