Had rudy been pardoned, he could not have taken the 5th and would have to testify against him if subpoenaed

From what I can find by asking the question, most legal minds say that it's not specifically prohibited, but that might be simply because the Founders never thought anyone would actually try it. The idea of a pardon is to publicly exonerate someone, so a secret one one would be at the very least suspicious.
None of the legal eagles have any confidence he would get away with it.
