Today is Earth Day and I have something to say,

Many feet have walked upon me
Unaware, barely noticing
I'm here, there, and all around
Under, over, in and on
Places where man need not go
But for greed and need
With predatory inclinations
Hindered by ignorance
Causing irreparable harm
Many warnings, ignored
Alas, most are known
My forever, may be lost
I'm abused, battered and torn
Water flowing, toxic
Air tainted, unseen
Forests charred, lifeless
Crops, unharvested and abandoned
Arctic ice, tumbling
Drought, unforgiving
Storms ravaging and heedless
Land, scorched and deserted
Sea, rising and unrestrained
Despair all around
Facing my demise
Now and forever
Human, you are my guest
Heed my warning
I am Earth
For if I die
So shall you.

write this? I hope so. When I was younger I used to take The Earth for Granite but now I
know it's so much more.
